The Neodymium magnet is a permanent magnet that has been made from an alloy of neodymium, iron and boron to form the Nd2Fe14B tetragonal crystalline structure. NdFeB is a type of rare-earth magnet that is widely recognized for its exceptional strength. It is currently the strongest type of permanent magnet available commercially.
Composition:
Neodymium magnets are made from an alloy of three main elements:
- Neodymium (Nd): This rare-earth element provides the magnet with its magnetic properties.
- Iron (Fe): Enhances the magnetic properties and stability of the alloy.
- Boron (B): Helps to maintain the magnetic properties of the alloy at high temperatures.
Performance Comparison Chart of NdFeB magnets and other magnet materials
Neodymium magnets have higher remanence, much higher coercivity and energy product, but often lower Curie temperature, weaker corrosion resistance than other types of magnets, such as Ceramic(Ferrite), SmCo, AlNiCo etc. Here enclosed is a comparison chart of the major performance of NdFeB, SmCo, Ceramic(Ferrite) and AlNiCo.

Comparison of NdFeB Magnets VS other magnets in other dimensions

NdFeB > SmCo > Ceramic > AlNiCo

SmCo >NdFeB > AlNiCo> Ceramic

AlNiCo > SmCo > Ceramic > NdFeB

Ceramic = SmCo = AlNiCo > NdFeB
Directions of magnetization
To create and utilize the magnetic properties and energy of neodymium magnets, enabling a wide range of technological applications across various industries, we can magnetize neodymium magnets in different orientations catering to your specific requirements. Magnetization is the process by which magnetic moments within a material align in a consistent direction, resulting in the creation of a magnetic field. Here is a photo to show various magnetization directions.
Licensed Neodymium Magnets
When choosing magnets for specific projects, in addition to considering the performance and quality of the magnet itself, some customers in the United States and Japan, and prominent corporations relying on neodymium magnets tend to exclusively obtain their magnets from manufacturers licensed by Hitachi. This acquisition can occur through direct transactions or indirectly through intermediaries. The primary reason behind this preference lies in the substantial legal risks associated with utilizing unlicensed neodymium magnets. These companies prioritize obtaining certificates confirming the authenticity of Hitachi-patented products, as such documentation plays a pivotal role in safeguarding them against potential legal disputes. Legal departments within these corporations are particularly diligent in verifying that their neodymium magnets originate from manufacturers holding valid Hitachi patents, as this precautionary measure helps mitigate the risk of facing lawsuits related to intellectual property infringement.
Currently, only eight companies in China are authorized for the patent. WZ Magnetics has maintained long-term business relationships with several authorized NdFeB manufacturers, thus we can offer magnetic products with the Hitachi Licensed super strong neodymium magnets, and the Hitachi Licensed certificates can be provided upon request.
