Use Neodymium Magnets to Replace Drilling and Welding

Case Study——Customized Magnets for Customers

Time:2023-6-2 Edit:WZ Magnetics

Customers will benefit from changing neodymium raw magnet to rubber coated magnets upon their holding application, here is an actual case of customized magnets we designed for our customer for reference.

Case Background:

Customer’s original design:  NdFeB disc of D 1″x 1/8″, N42

Application: Holding Purpose

Holding Force Requirment: 17 lbs

Suggested Customized Magnets Design by WZ Magnetics:

Design Option 1: China NdFeB pot magnet with screw hole, overall size D25x8mm

Design Option 2: Rubber Coated Magnet with screw hole, overall size D31x6mm

Why Customer Finally Decided to Choose rubber coated rare earth magnets?

Comparison on price, force and other properties by different design

Price Wise:  NdFeB disc > rubber coated magnet > pot magnet

Magnetic Holding Force:  pot magnet (36 lbs) > rubber coated magnet (20 lbs) > NdFeB disc (17 lbs)

Anti-corrosion Fuction: rubber coated magnet > pot magnet > NdFeB disc

Anti-scratch: rubber coated magnet > pot magnet>NdFeB disc

Anti-risk ability against NdFeB price increase: pot magnet > rubber coated magnet >NdFeB disc

Final decision: To use Rubber Coated magnets replacing NdFeB disc in original design

Customized Magnets according to customer requirements

From above comparison, Obviously that Rubber Coated Rare Earth Magnets beats others in its anti-corrosion and anti-scratch properties. Besides, even though it does not produce the highest force, it falls in acceptable range for the customer. When these pros are added up, it makes rubber coated magnet stand out from others with its great value vs more stable prices performance.

Another important feature of our products that gives customers a strong motivation to change is the ability to resist the risk of Ndfeb price increases.

To obtain the same holding force, the NdFeb magnet used in either the Round Pot Magnets or the Rubber Coated Waterproof Magnets are much smaller than the whole pieces of NdFeB magnets.

Diluted by other materials such as rubber or steel, Ndfeb does not dominate the cost composition of either pot magnet or rubber coated magnet, and these magnetic components have a more moderate price curve over time than Ndfeb magnets. Another important feature of our products that gives customers a strong motivation to change is the ability to resist the risk of Ndfeb price increases.
